Terhune Orchards Peach Festival Offers Sweet Family Fun on August 3 & 4
It’s all about Peaches at Terhune Orchards’ Just Peachy Festival on August 3 & 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. New this year is “Pick Your Own Peaches” at Terhune’s beautiful peach orchard, across the street from the festival. Come pick fresh, delicious peaches right from our trees to take home and enjoy. (Peaches are charged by the pound.) The trees are easily accessible to all.
Then head over to the “peachy” festival events ($10 admission for ages 3 and up), featuring family friendly fun. Families can take a tractor-drawn wagon ride through the orchards. Kids can enjoy pony rides, rubber duck races, interactive, hands-on fun in the Discovery Barn, a scavenger hunt and old-fashioned games.
On August 3 at 10:30 a.m., attend Pam’s Annual Canning and Freezing class in the Big Barn. Learn her secrets for preserving peaches and other fruits and vegetables at their peak, and get answers to your canning and freezing questions. Peaches, blueberries, tomatoes and corn are easy to freeze or can at the height of their freshness. Follow Pam’s easy directions and you’ll have a delicious reminder of your Terhune visit to enjoy during the cold winter months.
Later in the Big Barn, visitors can enjoy an “Eyes of the Wild” show both days at noon and 1:30 p.m. This educational traveling zoo program features live animals that are sure to captivate children and adults alike.
Visitors of all ages can sing and dance along to live country music from Swingin Dixie on Saturday (noon to 4 p.m.) and Tookany Creek on Sunday (noon to 4 p.m.). When hunger kicks in, stop in at Pam’s Farm Fresh Tent, featuring your favorite summer foods—barbecued chicken and pulled pork, hot dogs, homemade salads, gazpacho, peach pie and Terhune’s famous apple cider donuts. Or beat the heat with locally made peach ice cream in the Ice Cream Social tent.
At the winery, enjoy a glass of Terhune’s award-winning Just Peachy wine or sample a flight of red, white and fruit wines, perfect for a summer day. Cool off with peach and blueberry slushies and our red or white sangria—all made with fresh Terhune fruit.
When it is time to head home, stop at the farm store for baskets of just-picked peaches and nectarines to use in your favorite peach recipes. Pick up our fresh, organic vegetables, old-fashioned peach cobbler or pie to enjoy
