Terhune Orchards Hosts 5th Annual Farm to Table Fundraiser Dinner with 5 Courses and Wine on Thurs. July 21
Terhune Orchards was thrilled to once again host the fifth annual Farm to Table fundraiser dinner on the farm from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday July 21. People always enjoy an evening under the stars enjoying locally grown produce showcased by talented area chefs. The dinner is a benefit for members of the Mercer County Sustainability Coalition.
For the third year, Terhune Orchards collaborated with chef’s from The Terra Momo Restaurant Group. The well known Princeton area restaurateurs are committed to raising awareness for sustainability in the region. “At the core of our culinary philosophy is a deep appreciation for a “taste of place”. All to say, we believe that food should speak eloquently of its provenance — its soil, its climate and the people who nurture it.”
“Terhune Orchards is a very sustainable farm. We have worked for many years with town governments in Mercer County and throughout New Jersey on promoting a more sustainable future for our state,” said Pam Mount. “Locally grown food continues to be a critical piece enabling that goal. Every year the chef’s creativity at this dinner shows us how good food creates a lasting community. “
Chefs representing their restaurants Eno Terra, Mediterra, Teresa Caffe and Terra Momo Bread Co. prepared an exquisite five course, seasonal menu highlighting fruits and vegetables grown at Terhune Orchards and other locally produced ingredients. Each course was paired with wines from Terhune Orchards Vineyard and Winery.
Dinner began at 6:30 p.m. Each course was introduced by the chef. Chefs Terry Strong, Hillary Uricks, Joseph Voller, Marco Santana, Jeff Marfil and Cody Sells spoke to the guests about the dishes and their inspiration. The wine pairings were introduced by Gary Mount of Terhune Orchards.
Throughout the evening Ocean Country Band, a Jersey Shore-based quartet played a mix of country, bluegrass, and rock cover songs. At the end of the night each guest went home with a bag brimming with produce grown at Terhune Orchards and a commemorative recipe booklet that includes the menu items for this evening’s special dinner.
Donations from the event benefit the Green Teams and Sustainability Organizations of Mercer County which work together to promote sustainability in the towns of Mercer County.
